Life Index

How the Life Index is worked out.

A daily score from 1 to 1000, built from your Apple Health sleep, movement and recovery, each compared with your own recent average.

What goes in

Five parts, weighted.

Movement · 30%

Steps and exercise minutes against your usual, blended with how the last 7 days compare with the 4 weeks before. Today is compared with your usual at the same time of day.

Sleep · 25%

How long you slept last night against your usual.

Recovery · 25%

HRV and resting heart rate against your usual. A higher HRV or lower resting heart rate lifts this part.

Consistency · 10%

How close the day sits to your normal. Unusually high or low days score lower here.

Balance · 10%

Lower when one area is far ahead of another, such as a big movement day on very little sleep.

Your own baseline

Compared with you, not with other people.

Baseline
Each reading is compared with your own recent days. daygauge needs at least three earlier days of a reading before it can compare it.
Missing data
A missing reading is left out, not guessed. The remaining parts are reweighted. With fewer than two of sleep, movement and recovery, there is no score that day.
Confidence
Each score shows how much history it rests on. For example "High · 13-day baseline", or "Partial" when only two of the three areas have readings. Pro shows the full breakdown of each part.
What stays out

Context, not score inputs.

Places, Quick Log habits, caffeine, alcohol, weather, cycle tracking and notes never change the Life Index. They appear beside your readings, and Insight compares them with your sleep, movement and recovery over time.

Readiness is a separate score out of 100 for the morning, built from sleep, HRV and resting heart rate.

The Life Index describes your own data. It does not diagnose, treat or predict disease.
